On November 30, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) announced the "National Medical Care Expenditure for fiscal year 2018." The total medical care expenditure covered by insurance at medical institutions was 43.3949trilion yen, it increased by 323.9 billion yen (0.8%) from the previous year. The growth was lower than the last year due to the revision of medical fees and the declining population, however,  MHLW said, "Apart from the impact of the revision of medical fees, the trend is the same as usual."
